Cold & Dark to Takeoff (Airliner)

You will start an airliner from a cold, dark cockpit and depart under your own power — every switch, every check, every callout.

About this lesson

Cold and dark is the full meal. Your tutor sits with you through the entire flow — overhead panel, FMC, hydraulics, bleeds, APU, engine start, taxi, and takeoff — explaining not just what to press but why.

Why a human tutor? Checklists tell you what to press. A tutor tells you what happens when you press it wrong — and recovers with you when you do.

What you'll learn

  • Cockpit preparation — overhead panel, electrical, hydraulics
  • FMC/MCDU programming during preflight
  • APU start, engine start sequence, and bleed management
  • Before-taxi and before-takeoff checklists
  • Takeoff procedure — V-speeds, callouts, initial climb
  • What each switch actually does (not just the checklist order)

Prerequisites

  • Study-level airliner (PMDG 737, Fenix A320, or similar)
  • Patience for a long session
