- Make the localizer 110.30 the active NAV frequency (swap it up from standby).
ILS localizers live in the 108.10–111.95 MHz band on odd tenths.
- Set the course (CRS) to 040° — the final approach course.
The course pointer must match the published final approach course for the deviation bar to make sense.
- Switch the CDI source to NAV1 (the localizer).
Switching to LOC drops the autopilot lateral mode to ROL until you re-arm a mode.
- Arm APR mode to capture the localizer and glideslope.
APR is the approach mode — it flies the ILS down to minimums.
