The G1000 checks every knob, softkey and entry as you make it, and tells you when something was accepted but wrong.

Step-by-step: Intercept and track a GPS course

  1. Direct-To KTCY (press Dโ†’, spell it, ENT).

GPS is the active navigation source before you engage a lateral mode.

  2. Engage the autopilot and select NAV mode.

NAV mode couples the GFC 700 to the active GPS course.

  3. Hold altitude at 4,000 ft with ALT.

Now the aircraft tracks the course laterally and holds altitude.
